22 and still living at home? I can see why you have the need for a new routine. Honey, parents understand that eventually their children grow up and have to venture out in the world on their own. It's a part of life. Secretly underneath, they are probably waiting for you to do so....all parents have that, we just don't show it because we don't want to push our children when they aren't ready. If you are worried about hurting them, then chances are they've made you more than comfortable to allow you to stay as long as you like....which means they probably think you aren't ready for the cold world. Get a game plan together, start searching for apartments or room mates, etc. Once you have it all lined up, sit them down and tell them how you feel and what your plans are. Not only will they be impressed that you've figured it all out on your own, but they won't make you feel so guilty about leaving.

My daughter moved out a few years ago and we did the same thing. As a parent, it always hurts when one of your babies leaves the nest, but on the other side of that, our biggest joy is knowing that we raised them well enough to be out in that world.

I wish you well.

You are 22 years old. Be gentle and firm when you tell them. You can commiserate with them, be sad with them, but in the end they have to deal with it. That's what kids do ...they grow-up and move out!

This way they can deal with crap of their own making.

if you have a good job, a wife/husband, and or kids then you should diffently try to move out. if you don't have any of these, then just make sure you have at least 6 mo. to a year worth of savings. this way you can at least try it on your own long enough so that you can enjoy it a little bit. otherwise stick it out or lie like my friend and pretend that you found a job that requires you to relocate. regardless of your choice, good luck.

My daughter is married and has 1 child. She also goes to college and works full time. If you're bored with your life, set some goals and stick to them. My daughter is also 22.
