I believe in Jesus Christ, because he is unique becuase he is the only person to make claims of divinity and support them with countless miracles. Christianity is based on real history with real people unlike paganim and eastern religions which are superstitions.
"Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. "1 John 2:22

*sigh*
I could be like the Christians and just ask you to believe it on faith, but alas I am Pagan and so I must attempt to explain a Mystery that is one of the hardest to understand. but here it is.
In the beginning there was Chaos. Chaos is formless energy without direction. Over time, the Chaos came to be somewhat ordered and the Universe came into existance. Some of that energy formed into matter, and some formed consciousness and some of those conscious energy beings consciously created other things with that energy, material and energetic. But, like all energy, it was still all... well, energy and all part of the same connected thing that was once Chaos, but henceforth shall be referred to as The All.
The All is all the energy in existance, which is all connected. The energy in your body, the energy that makes up the Earth, the stones, the plants and the spirit beings, including those that you call Gods are all part of the one thing, The All.
Energy that is currently not engaged in the formation of a conscious and/or material thing continues to swirl in Chaos, but we refer to that as The Sea.
Now then, as we have all learned in science class, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change form. We have also learned that matter is created from energy.
If you take a social science class, you will learn that that which is real is largely a matter of opinion. For example, the idea of "race" has no scientific basis, and yet it is very real and pervading in our culture. Why? Because the energy of The All is slightly altered every single time anyone says or does something that implies that race is real or that it matters. The more neurons fire off implying the reality of the concept of race, the more that concept of race becomes real. And yet it's not real. But it is. Do you see?
Democracy is a similar concept.
Now then, how does that relate to Gods? Well, if all it takes for something to be real is for enough people to believe it's real and act upon that reality for something to be real then anything that people believe in, while acting upon that belief and causing real change in the Universe is real.
Ah, but where did people come from? I should think that we aren't arrogant enough to think that only material life forms count. Quite the contrary. Through our beliefs we can create spiritual life forms and name them Gods, totems, angels, spirit guides, whatever, but they in turn can do the same. In fact, they can do it much easier than we can because their understanding of the process is not limited by materiality. Your Bible states that God spake the world into existance, which is pretty much the way everything comes to be.
And so the question becomes which came first, the chicken or the egg and for that, you will have to depend upon faith.
And so you see, the Atheists are right, there are no Gods, just energy and the power of belief. The Polytheists are right, there are tons of Gods. The Monotheists are right, God is The All and the Pantheists are right- God is in All. The Christians are right, Jesus was God. The Muslims are right, Jesus was a man. And, everyone is also wrong.
There is more to it, but that's a 8th degree secret. (That's a joke I'm sure you won't get. Actually, it's irrelevant to the question, but if you want to know more contact me directly.)

The theory is that all religions, while not being 100% true, contain a kernel of truth. Much the same as the old story about the blind men and the elephant - none of them can tell that it's an elephant, so they make interpretations that are wildly off-base, but what they can physically sense is indeed correct.
When you start moving outside of the realm of exclusive monotheisms, you'll see that there's less of an issue of competition over right/wrong. A Hellenist can, for example, hold a view of creation that's different than, say, the Asatruar version - and nobody seems to really get upset over the differences.

There isn't an easy way to say this....but 'all religions are true' is wrong. Let me explain it this way:
There can only be one truth about something. Everything else must be wrong. The truth doesnt change for people. Like, the truth of gravity. (i've said this before, i kno) If two people jump off a building, the truth that they'll both hit the ground is the same for each. Even if i believe that i won't hit the ground, i'll still go splat! The truth doesn't change just because you believe it's so.

Religions are the way human beings express their spirituality. People need to have faith to give sense and meaningfulness to their lives, and to learn to be nice to others.
There are different religions according to the different cultures, but the goal is the same.
You can believe there's a God and you can choose (probably depending on what you were taught growing up) the way to express that and live your spirituality. It doesn't have to be "the right one". It's good if it's good for you and doesn't hurt anybody.
Just respect other beliefs. They are all good as long as they have a minimum of common sense for the people of that culture and the way they live (I'm thinking cults are a totally different thing).
PS: Fanatics of any religion are always wrong. They just don't get the point of it and use it as an excuse to do stupid things, just like in any other kind of fanaticism.

because a religion is a belief, a way of giving people false hope about what is uncertain, so if the religion works for someone this religion is true.
imagine the situation, a person go completely nuts and believes he can talk to his dog and that the dog talks back. We know the fact is not possible but for this person it is a reality, he even listens to his dog talking to him. Reality (hence truth) is defined by personal perception rather than by universal knowledge

Actually, the similarities between the beliefs of Muslims and Christians is quite striking. But uhm, some people do believe that there are many paths to god and that each path is just as valuable as the next.

Another reason why religion is a joke. Christians keep on going on that only through Jesus can you have immortal life but then they say all religions are good and such but do they think that Muslims, Hindus, etc are worshipping Jesus? Nope!
Technically anything not Christian is gonna cook! Simple as that.

Concerning religion, there is no right or wrong. There's no proof to back anything up, so it's a matter of believing in your heart these things you feel to be true. Faith.
***Susan, why does anyone have to be wrong? No one alive has the answer you seek, it won't be revealed until we die. What if our eternity is based on our perception of the afterlife? What if Christians really do go to heaven? What if atheists simply cease to be? There are many possibilities, but no answers until our time here has ended.

Its not that all religions are true. It's like they have all got the same core beliefs. Well meaning people have tinkered with all of them trying to fix things they did not like about them, till they are barely recognizable, if you compare them to there original form.
It might be more correct to say that all of them started out as the word of God but after people got done correcting the mistakes they felt that God made they are nearly unrecognizable.

The right religion for an individual is the one that helps them improve themselve and makes them a better person. Anyone who claims their beliefs above the beliefs of others is lacking any form of spirituality.
