I was suspended from my federal government job for 45 days without pay. I loss not only gross income but retirement (TSP) contributions. Can I claim any of this on my tax return?

No, there is no deduction for unpaid wages. However, if you feel the suspension wasn't justified, you can seek a ruling from the labor board for back pay.

You claim the zero you earned. That's it.

You didn't lose anything. You didn't get paid is what your punishment was.
