You could try Dave and Busters. It's like a Chucky Cheese for adults. They have a whole arcade setup and pool tables. My parents had a party there when I was younger and everyone had a great time. It's off of 355. Not far from Chicago.
You could also try going to Water Tower Place for shopping. It may not be a place to sit down and eat, but if you have your friends with you, I'm sure it'll be a blast and there are plenty of places to eat.
If you are like the majority of people who grew up here, you're sick of Navy Pier. But that's an option too.
You could always go to a Brunswick Zone or another place like that that has laser tag and paintballing.
If none of these sound good to you, you can always try looking at tourist sites. They usually have some neat places that a lot of locals haven't even heard of.

It depends. My older, now 20-something nieces preferred gift cards to their favorite stores, but my niece who is getting ready to turn 18 has always preferred old-fashioned presents! She loves Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy products, so I often buy her a set of those, with a scented candle. She also likes Starbucks, so I'll usually tuck in a Starbucks card, too ... it's just enough for 1-2 cups, but it allows her to grab a little treat on her aunt while she's out with her friends.

If it's just you and your girlfriends you could check out some of the party spa packages at area spas. Meet up with the guys at a local restaurant or if the weather permits grill out or have a picnic.

I would try to find an all-ages sports hall - then you can all play pool / darts / video games, and when they close take the party back to your house for drinks or whatever it is that teens do.

How about Chucky Cheese? There are a lot of kids there. Or ESPN Zone or Dave & Busters.
