Can't people run their own lives? There are so many religions out there that just want your money. I feel sorry for people that need the guidance of a spirit to get through the day.
Sounds like mental illness to me...

I agree somewhat. They are weak. It seems to me people use organized religion as sort of a crutch. They are unable to cope with everyday reality and have the type of personality that they can't seem to make a decision on their own. They don''t have enough self confidence in themselves. some people just like to be told what to do, they let others do the thinking for them. On the other extreme some people rely heavily on religion, because they refuse accept any responsibility for their own actions. think of "the devil made me do it syndrome." and that religion gives them rational for their own stupid actions. I don't not feel sorry for them as most of them consciously allow the "good" well meaning reverends to control their every move. Organized religion in my opinion is the ability of others to exert control over other human beings in the name of god. Real ethical..............

If faith helps someone get through the day, then why knock it? I only have an issue with people who kill in the name of God. But if I'm grateful to my creator for the life that I lead, why is that mental illness. Why do you care?

It is sad that so many people get duped out of money by crooks, but that can be said about a lot of things, not just religion.

If one believes or doesn't believe is their business, not yours. Don't judge, because I'm sure you don't want people to judge you.

It is not a mental illness unless you are constantly hearing God and he is telling you to kill people. We are give free will but for me personally it gives me great comfort in times of anxiety, lonliness, and despair. Human beings can only do so much to help each other, for the rest theres God. He rocks.
PS-Let me ask all those who are questioning our intelligence because we rely on God for things. Do you rely on friends or family for support for some things? Well we rely on God for support, yes we cannot see him, so? He helps just the same. We have faith that He is there, so far He has not disappointed.

You just proved two points I made tonight in two different threads. A) That many non-believers come in here simply to insult B) and that one of the reasons for non-belief is a desire not to be accountable to anyone.

Thanks a heap.

By the way, to answer your real question? Why you NOT feel the need? Look at the world around you and the shape it's in. Do you really not notice that man is helpless right now. That mankind's problems are too huge and man too selfish to fix them. You'd rather believe there is no hope for the future?

Some people just can't or won't (I don't know which one) think for themselves. A lot of people are "sheep." They follow the crowd. I believe in some kind of higher power, but it's all based on what I think personally.

I think it's just easier for some people to do what their told to do and believe. It's easier for them to NOT think for themselves. Which is sad. Question EVERYTHING. That's what I do and I'm much better off. I know that I'm living my life the way I see fit.

It's like an emotional crutch. Not everyone is strong during times of hardship. Seems like some people need it and cannot rely on thier own abilites.

I am sorry that you do not have the promise of eternal life and your life will soon be over as all of our lives will. Life is uncertain and definitely too short. GOD adds so many things to a good life. HIS WORD is very reassuring in the tough times ahead. PLease take the time to read, study, and obey HIS WORD, the BIBLE. Have a great evening.

Why would you take the time to criticize how someone chooses to make it through the day?

Sounds like mental illness to me...

The thought that should become YOUR mantra is this... "mind my own business"
