If i have HDMI connection from my Satelite box to my HDtv, how can i get surround sound from my reciever?

You need to connect the digital audio out from your set-top box to your AVR.
On your sat box setup, specify the audio out is through digital out.
Your TV will only get video through HDMI

run audio cables from your hd-sat. top box to TV and then from TV audio OUT to your sound system. then go in menu of TV and set the sound up from there. may need to go to the sat. company or TV company's web page and look-up the config for this on your TV and box top if this is to confusing.
