Last year I started running everyday and added weight lifting eventually. But I noticed that my legs got bigger and bigger. So I did more cardio than weights (running)... The whole workout routine I had pissed me off. So I started ballet classes 8 months ago, I noticed I got leaner (which was what I was looking for) but a week ago I noticed the same problem is back again... my legs are getting thicker and my pants are barely fitting! I've been on a strict diet (shop at whole foods) I don't know what I'm doing?! I don't eat any bread fast foods, sugars. Purely salads, vegies, fruits and dark choco. I just want to be lean and have some muscle tone. Not a girl with huge thighs. My boyfriend says I just have an athletic built body and that's how my body reacts and there's nothing I can do about it. I have played sports my whole life. Whats going on in my body?!?!?!! HELP

Do u mean ur legs are swelled up after the ballet??If yes then i'm also experiencing the same problem.I was told that this is becoz my muscles aren't used to too much or sudden exercise which caused the swelling.Massage will help but i mean painful ones.

It simple you are getting huge muscles in your legs, which is a good thing. I'm sure its not the jiggly stuff. Try doing just cardio, however, ballet will also work those muscles good. I think you should be proud to have muscular legs.

Lol! I totally know what you are talking about!

I talked to my personal trainer about this and he told me that, I am building muscles on my legs when I work out, but I still have some fat on my leg area: hence, your muscles are beneath the fat and are pushing at it, making your legs look fat.

Solution, do more cycling and pilates. Pilates will give your legs a more tone and lean look! :)

goodluck!

two things. you're building muscle mass with all the exercise AND you're pumping your legs full of oxygen.

basic weight training 101: for more muscle mass do low reps, heavy weight. for tone do many reps with low weight.

probably cause youre building muscle.and especially if you have played sports your whole life, your body will develop with the habits such as playing alot of sports. still exercise but dont over-do it.
