None, it's more of a health issue.

Most religions believe that consuming substances that are harmful to the body is sinful. This includes drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Jehovah's Witnesses are strongly against smoking and advise everyone to quit. Mormons are also against anything that can be addictive and some even consider caffiene to be bad. Islam is very much against any substance that can, in any quantity, cause intoxication. Basically, most religons see your body as sacred and not something we should abuse.

Smoking wasn't really used as widespread as it was until it was discovered being used by the Native Americans when Europeans were exploring the New World. So Christians don't really have any hold on it being a sin since it was discovered during the Colonial times.

Christianity for one.

And most others I would assume because it is harmful to the body and can cause a state of intoxication, both considered sin immoral by most religions.

In any religion that uses the Ten Commandments. "Thou shall not kill," which most religious scholars say includes harming someone. Smoking harms not only the smoker, but those who have to breathe in the second hand smoke.

Did people smoke back then anyways? I would say the older religions(Christianity, Hinduism, Judiasm) did not see smoking as a sin, simply because it was not as popular as present day.

The Mormons are probably the only one you've heard of:

"The faithful Mormon consumes no alcohol, no tobacco, no caffeine, does not engage in premarital or extramarital sex."

But really, there are many sects whose view is that taking pleasure from anything other than God is evil. Most of those tend to be lost in the shuffle of the much more massive pretenders who like to ignore rules that are inconvenient to them.

good question, from what other people have said, Mormons, also, Jews have a prohibition against harming their bodies needlessly (i.e-pricking your finger for a swear) or anything of the sort. Many people believe smoking is included in this (i am one of them) though sadly, like in every religion, many people do.

hope this helps =)

Islam. It's considered a slow suicide and it harms others. Amazing how they knew that way back then, and yes, they did smoke. Tobacco is a leaf, not a man made chemical.

Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam and Mormon. ALL of them think it's a sin.

Mormons.

They believe you aren't supposed to harm your body in any way. Piercings, tattoos, caffiene, smoking, drinking....... Not supposed to do any of it.
