I have a 7 yr old and a 3 1/2 yr old. During the week I put them to bed between 8:00pm and 8:30pm, so they can wake for school. On the weekend between 9pm and 10:00pm, depending on what they did that day, how tired they are and if they behaved. My 3 yr old is usually passed out by 9pm on the weekends. If my older one has behaved I let her stay up as a treat, if not she goes at her regular bedtime. On special occasions when we go out, then there is no specific bedtime, but thats only a few times a year.

Bedtime needs to be consistant 7 days a week for the child to be rested and derive the greatest amount of benefit health wise. A seven year old should be put in bed at 8p.m. to read, quietly play with coloring books, etc., and unwind. This could be quality time spent together to talk, read together, etc. in the child's room. Then lights out at 8:30 p.m.
Children that age need more that 8 hours of sleep. Actually some need up to 10 hours.
Also, it gives you a chance to have the remains of the day to yourself for adult activity and conversation, or to just relax and regroup and still get to bed at a decent hour yourself.

i think of a number of it has to do with your man or woman desires (aka sanity!). I especially situations positioned my daughter down early in order that i could have some "me time". As a single mom that's demanding to get a 2d to your self. I actually have a 13 12 months old who continues to be up in many situations til 12-1am on weekends. My daughter is 3 and he or she is going to mattress no later than 9 on weekends. i think of permitting a 7 12 months old to not sleep till eleven isn't any huge deal on weekends. in case you're no longer too helpful approximately it, purely enable it one night on the weekend, or the different weekend.

Wow. Wish you'd been my parent...:) Ah anyway my parents put me to bed at eight p.m. on the weekdays and 9 p.m. on the weekends. Now that I'm older though (13) I get to stay up till 9 weekdays and 10 weekends. But it really depends what time your kid wakes up.

On weekday's my 7yr old twins go to bed at 8pm, I read them a chapter from a book and then its lights out. On the weekends I let them stay up as late as they want, but they go to their room by 10pm and get to watch video's in bed. But, they are usually out within 30 minutes.......

I think its o.k. on the week-ends, if he sleeps late the next day. If he get up on week-end mornings, he needs to go to bed earlier. c
Children as young as 7 years needs to be in bed by 8 to 8:30 on school nights.
