As a college student about to graduate this semester I know that timing is everything - The key here is finding out, as fast as possible, what courses you're taking the next term and finding out what books they'll require. Sometimes, a fellow student will be selling that book at a greatly reduced price, but don't always count on it. The best thing to do is to set up accounts on Half.com and eBay and do a quick search there. Do some comparison shopping. You might find one textbook cheaper on Half.com, but another on eBay (occasionally I have found the least expensive books on Amazon, where they actually do a search of online book stores for you!). It's very important to do your textbook shopping as soon as possible, get a copy of your syllabus and start pricing! Good luck!

Half.com is really good. But I've had my best luck just hanging out around the bookstore. People who want to sell books hang out by that section in the bookstore, and you can negotiate on site. I've also heard of people who photocopy the entire book and sell a stapled copy of the book for real cheap. The whole college book industry is so fu*cked up. They make new editions where there is no need to, just so people have to buy them.

Half .com all the way. You can get them practically new there and pay nearly just half the price. Then you can sell them back on there too. and selling them in or at a bookstore is soliciting and copying them is breaking a federal law, just an fyi
