Global warming is not an easy topic. It is far from resolved science. Too many contraversies for an easy paper. Recycling is a good topic. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Makes perfect economic sense, too. If your teachers wanted to be environmental friendly, they would hand out fewer tests (reduce). They would let you submit homework problems in place of the test questions (reuse), and even better, they would let you submit your older sister's or brother's homework from when she or he was in your grade (recycle).

You can try to look at the pollution created by buying goods made in China versus the EU or USA. Make an assumption on increased pollution (say 1g per shirt) and find data on shirts sold in the USA.

You can write about global warming, habitat destruction, overpopulation, waste disposal, oil, ozone depletion, insufficient recycling programs for nonrenewable resources, chemical pollution of water and air....just to list a few
