It's all about the haircare routine and nutrition.

Lots of healthy-fats/oils like nuts, olive oil, egg whites, salmon, and 64 oz of water a day.

Keep your hair clean, conditioned, do hot oil treatments..

Less is more so try not to manipulate the afro alot with the pic. It can cause damage/breakage over time.

Carol's daughters products have very nourishing and natural components for women with natural hair. Some things in her line you can do yourself. Like when you rinse your hair after washing it, your final rinse should be a cold tea rinse, cold for your pores to close and tea for strength. You can buy large quantities of chamomile dried tea leaves at the health food store. You steep it by putting the dry tea leaves in a stocking and steep the way you would tea bags, and this would be your final rinse after its cooled. You can also find peppermint shampoo at health food stores, the peppermint opens your pores while washing, this helps growth but people don't care for it during the winter because they don't care for open pores during this season. Lavender, peppermint and sage essential oils are good for your scalp and hair growth, but easier is to find some of the carol's daughters products that already have these in them, which she does. Its just simpler in that regard. Conditioners with humectress are good because humectants draw moisture from the air into your hair, but these are typically expensive as I've only seen it in the nexxuss hair care line. Deep conditioning is important to do every once in a while and you don't have to depend on heat, you can rely on your body heat if while conditioning you use a plastic cap and wear it for an hour or so.

Everyone's hair grows at different rates but reducing the amount of damage you do to it, wash & condition it often, keep it up in your braids. It should grow to its own personal capacity.
