They can be spayed while they are in their heat cycle. But if your vet will not, she can be spayed the week that it stops.

She can be spayed during the heat cycle, it's just messier for the veterinarian doing the spay. But if you prefer to wait until her heat cycle is over, then I would recommend waiting a week.

I would call your vet and make an appointment now; this way you're covered. And when you call, if you have any questions they can answer them right there too.

Vets vary in how long after a season they like to perform a spay, consult with your vet and see what they think is best. Usually they recommend waiting 3 to 4 weeks.

Ideally you should wait at least 2 months after she is out of heat. The reason being is that all her female parts will be shrunk back down to normal size and there won't be as much blood loss during the surgery.

it dosent matter. I took one of my dogs in to be spayed the day she started her first heat. I had to make sure that no male dogs got to her for about 2 weeks after though because there are stitches internally and it could have ruptured them if that happened. so they still have to be watched, but thats ok.

Wait one month after her heat cycle ends. This will help in preventing any post-operative problems.

you're vet will probalby spay her anytime. but if you want to wait until it's over then usually a week after she goes out of heat, will allow the blood supply to the uterus and the uterine swelling to go down. good for you!
