Yes...In fact it flew at half staff for Rosa Parks, Loretta Scott King, and Jackie Kennedy Onassis.....just to name a few.
Because unlike the French, we have respect for women.

Many times, it is always 30 days for a President, but most recently for a women it flew at half staff (by direction of George H. Bush) for Rosa Parks (I think a week, because she laid "In State" in the Capital). Any patriot, man or women, can have this happen by order of the President (for 1 to7 days, everyone else is predefined). I can list more women (mostly Congressman) if you want, but it happens more often then you think. Also Governors can order it for one day in their states, so any National Guard woman killed in action also have at least one day in their home state. As I said, it happens more than we think, but only for patriots.

It was flown at half staff after the challenger shuttle blew up, and there were two women on there.

sex doesn't matter if a flag is flown at half staff. i'm sure there was a women cop, fire person, paramedic that die at 911. or a local female cop who died in the line of duty.
