yes. if it is light olive oil it will be fine. if virgin, you may notice the flavor a litttle different. Do you have butter? use melted butter. You may also sub applesauce. (it is what low fat dieters use)

Oil is essential. It helps keep it moist, and prevents it from burning. I'd rather use olive oil than no oil at all. You probably wont even be able to taste the difference!

How else do you think your cake will get moist?
Olive oil has a very strong flavor, so it won't work in a cake.

yes, you do need oil in a cake mix, but i would not use olive oil. You can use applesauce, though and it works fine.

i don't think i would use olive oil for a cake ,yuck, use a stick of butter, if you don't have stick butter,use 1/4 cup,trust me it will be better than an olive oil cake

As long as it's not extra virgin oil it will be ok. Extra virgin may add a slightly odd flavor to a cake.
