I have a west highland terrier, approx 8-9 months. A male. He is already toilet trained and all this times goes on well. But suddenly this 3 days he started to pee on my bed, and on my boyfriend's bed which is in another room. The odd thing is, if he has a bladder infection, why the only odd places he peed on except for his dog toilet is my bed and my boyfriend's bed ? He has peed on my bed twice in 3 days and on my bf bed once.
Is he marking his territory ?
My dog, westin, sleeps with me everyday on the bed. Allowed to lay on my bf bed.
what is happening here?

Ow, and another thing, my dog acts like a real baby. He just cant stand to be seperated from me for even 10 minutes! He is already 8 months old but keep on following me in the house wherever i go. Usually he will whine and cry if i go to my bf room and shut the door for 15 minutes. But yesterday...i found that he peed on the bed when i went to my bf room for 15 minutes! And on the evening i went out for a while. When i came back, he peed on by my bf's bed. And today, my bf claims that when he went out to work, westin is in the bathroom waiting for me while i am taking my shower. When i finished taking my shower, i saw he already peed on my bed. So i got a 50-50 that this is separation anxiety or marking his territory or he is mad at me. If he has separation anxiety..hey, i am still at home, why pee ?

Again..i am adding this detail..at first i thought he is just mad at me and try to show how pissed he is by peeing on my bed. But today, i decided to close the door to my room to prevent him from peeing on my bed while i am taking my shower.
The weird thing is, (the bathroom door is always open because his dog toilet is inside the bathroom and i am taking shower in the shower box in the bathroom) i saw him peeing outside his dog toilet...and he poop outside just in front of the bathroom door. I dont get it. He doesnt seem to want to use the dog toilet while i am taking my shower! Is he sick ? Or just behavioural problem ? Since it is winter down here, i use real hot water to take my shower and hot steams are filling up the whole bathroom

My daughter's dog has this problem.. the vet says it has something to do with the muscle control while the dog is alseep... since the dog never has a problem while awake, only while sleeping.. Technically, the dog never realized that she had to go...The medication worked pretty good.... but my daughter decided to make a special comfy bed for the pup right next to her bed, so that just in case there is another accident, it doesn't ruin her bedding...
Her dog is 8 years old.. but I guess it isn't that unusual of a problem...

My dog, on the other hand, had a similar problem when she was young.. some meds from the vet helped to cure that as well..

good luck!!

Again, this is gonna sound crazy, but I highly recommend it.....your dog is trying to assert his dominance over you. As Cesar Milan would say, he's trying to be the pack leader. You have to take control of the situation, i.e. establish yourself as the pack leader, and the whining & peeing will stop.

Read his book or watch Dog whisperer. You'll see....worked wonders for my 2 monsters!

first of all, allowing the dog to sleep with you is a sign that he is equal with you; therefor he is most likely marking his space.

he might have a bladder infection as you should take the dog and have it's urine tested.
