As a Christian I have asked myself many times: "what if there is no God?" "What if this is all wrong"....and I entertain what that would mean for me.

So, I ask non-believers. Do you ever entertain the idea that you are wrong? What would that mean for you?

I am asking if you ever consider the alternat viewpoint. That is not Pascal's wager.

I'm an agnostic, so I often consider that I may be wrong. The truth is that whether God exists or not is unknowable.

I don't worry about it much.

Yes, I have considered this. All atheists have considered this, because atheism stems from a rational thought process as opposed to adhering to dogma. Don't project the ignorance of theists onto us.

If all that Christian crap is real, then I guess I'm going to hell. However, I can't manage to get too upset about that. The God of the Bible is vain, cruel, and psychotic. Why would I want to spend eternity with someone like that? If Satan is the antithesis of such a god, I'd rather stay with him. Besides, all the really interesting people would also be in hell. I'd be bored in heaven. I'd be stuck with murderous inquisitors, raving evangelists, and Jeffrey Dahmer. No, thank you.

I use to, but then I realised that the very fact that you entertain the thought is because there is no proof. And therefore no one has ever known about such things.
I remember that Socrates spoke of the ancient belief of a burning fire after you die. This was in greece 500 bc, Clearly showing that it is much more likely a human invention. Christians today cant agree on such things either.
If God is real, well it wont bother me, like it doesnt bother me now.
Why do people think you must 'FIGURE' it all out before you die otherwise your eternity is screwed?

Oh that thought crosses my mind all of the time. If there does happen to be an afterlife modeled on the christian theology then i do believe that i am screwed. Or i could ask to be let into heaven and theoretically they'd have to let me in. Its included in the text of an offshoot christian text that states that since god is infinitely forgiving hes not going to make anyone go to hell regardless of what they do. And since dogmatic law states that what the church holds to be true on Earth God must hold true in heaven there would be a nice little loophole there for everyone.

As an Atheist I have asked myself many times. It's too bad the Christians will never know they are wrong. Because when they die and enter into nothingness they will never realize they have wasted their whole lives worshipping an non-existing entity.
As an Atheist I live for today. I try and help my fellow man/woman, and do what I know is right and not what an ancient fairy tale book tells me. As a human being I know I am flawed but I also know I have to be true to myself. I also know I am happier now as an atheist than I was as a christian.

No, I don't entertain the idea -- simply because there is no evidence of any kind that there is any kind of god. Though absolutely denying any chance of god existing would be as incorrect as the christians who claim absolutely god does exist, the chances are incredibly slim.

And if in the end reality goes against those incredible odds and there is a god, it can't possibly be the god described by any religion on earth -- those gods are all full of contradictions, lies from their "word," vindictiveness, hatred, etc. If such a god does exist, I want no part of him.
But not to worry -- there is a better chance that monkeys are going to fly out of my behind than there is that god is real...so I don't worry about it :)

Pascal's Wager re-worded yet again.

I do not entertain the thought that i might be wrong in my beliefs (Celtic Pagan) this is the nature of Faith. I believe in all gods that have been worshiped. and i believe that the only way a god can affect your afterlife is if you grant them worship in your mortal life.

Getting real tired of Pascals Wager. And tired of answering this question. So I'll just copy and paste one of my old answers....

Assuming he exists, if your god is the loving god you say he is, then when I die he'll accept a sincere heartfelt apology. If he doesn't, and throws me into hell anyway, then I'm glad I didn't worship him because he isn't loving, he's vengeful like I already think the Christian god is. And I don't want to worship, or spend eternity with, a vengeful angry god.

If there really is a God that sends me to hell, than there's not much I can do about it. I certainly wouldn't worship such a God. I think it's pretty obvious that hell is a man made concept.

But if it was real, I wouldn't be alone. There would be lots of other good people there with me. And the souls of all those would be a lot more powerful than a fallen angel.

I guess I'm screwed then, aren't I.

If you're trying to use Pascal's Wager (it's better to believe in God and be wrong than to not believe and be wrong), then you're wrong.

I've entertained the idea. Then I re-examine the evidence. And I usually end up staying an atheist.
