I'm applying for scholarships and I need to submit slides of my artwork for an art grant. I'm not sure what steps to take in doing this. Thanks for your help!

You would be better served to have a pro do this. It is expensive, but worth it. shooting copy slides is an art form in and of itself. Contact your local photo lab for recommendations-

This is hard, painstaking work in which you need proper lighting, set up and knowledge of color temperture. All this sound like greek? Then pay a pro-expect to pay $40-75/shot.

Good luck

Find a high end photo shop...and I don't mean on the computer.
Look in the phone book...under cameras. Most towns still have a photo shop that sells high end photo equiptment, film & lighting. They develop photos the origional way.....in a dark room.

Sometimes I have seen slide film at Wallgrens & some do developing of slides.

I suggest while at the photo shop you buy a little eye glass to view the pictures. And you can also buy plastic pages that fit your slides in

You can purchase slide film and most major photo stores like Ritz and Penn Camera.

As far as shooting your artwork so it looks the best, if you don't feel confident you can take the best photos and you can't afford a pro, try talking to photography students.

When I was in school the art program had a service for this as well.

Inside lighting can be tough to get your artwork to look its best (lamp and flash glare, proper exposure, white balance), so if you end up taking the pictures yourself, I would advise taking them outside on a bright overcast day against a solid contrasting background.

Your best bet is the developing shop that does the prints for the local newspapers. Or visit a photo studio and brazenly ask where it the best place to buy slide film. I get mine from a developing shop that sells professional film as well. Needless to say, I process mine at the same place.

I hope that helps.
