Canada has a better trained army, however we do not have the equipment or the personnel to win a war with the US. Last I heard we have around 52000 troops, which I understand is around a 1/4 of what the marines have alone.
Obviously our allies would join in, I thought in this hypothetical situation we were talking just Canada and the US

with out a doubt america if it ever came to it would sweep aside canadian defenses before the UK or NATO could get involved, but manily it would depend if our quick reaction forces were within the contential US, such as 101, 82nd how many MEU's were near by. also factor in that the UK would have to cross the atlantic and then it be RN v USN. the RN is smaller then the USN plus they have no fleet carriers.
about the war of 1812 the US never lost. due to the british we couldnt hold canada. our invasion of canada ended up sacking the capital of canada at the time. also the war offically ended due to the destruction of napolean though we won the last battle were we routed the red coats at the battle of New Orleans, fought on january 8, 1815 (and i do mean routed they lost 2000 men dead wounded or captured to the american 13 dead 58 wounded) that was 8000 brits v 3500-4500 US

I would hope that Canada would be the most likely to get help from UK and NATO as I understand it is part of the Commonwealth...?
Who would win...? Canada-led coalition force, because USA have a track record of withdrawing from any war it instigates before the job is completed - so, no worries there.
Better strategy? Hmm.. I'd say that a Canada-led coalition force would have the better stategy because USA tend to invade first, then become gung-ho trying to intimidate thier opponents with sheer numbers - mainly cannon fodder unfortunately.
Allies...? Do you mean USA...? Hmmm "Can I ask a Friend please Chris?" (Who wants to be a Millionaire tv programme !)
I should think after the Iraq debacle USA would have a lot more problems asking any "allies" to help them - sorry !

That's hard to say, with all the US troops in Iraq, Korea and elsewhere, if Canada struck fast and all out, I think they could win. Plus many of the ultra liberal types here would surrender and probably join in with the Canadians. They love the socialized medicine option....

Very highly unlikely, since all joking aside, they are even more of our allies than England. We love each other, we envy each other, we go there and they come here on vacation. We trade officers. But hypothetically, it would be like fighting Texas, except cold, and same amount of people, same level of craziness and independence but way more spread out. I wouldn't want to do it..

History tells the story "the war of 1812" Canada won over the U.S.A.
And no most Canadians are not French, we hate them as much as you do :-)

You forgot to factor in that a lot of Canadians are French. Does that answer your question?
