In Acts 7:55-56: "But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" -->In this piece of scripture, is there any significance of Jesus standing at the right hand of God than just sitting at the right hand of God. One always reads of Jesus sitting at the right hand of God, but in these verses you get a picture of Jesus standing and looking at the Stephen. Explain please, thanks.

I understand that the throne and such symbolize authority, I'm a believer, and I also understand that Jesus isn't always sitting, but it just seems to me that Jesus was marveling at Stephen's life or somethin. He could also be greeting, I just want to know your take on it.

Jesus was standing because Stephen was dying and Jesus was going to greet him. What a wonderful picture of our Lord, welcoming a child home.

I think He was standing to acknowledge Stephen, to welcome him to the kingdom. It also displays that God is a person sitting and Jesus is a separate person standing and Stephen was said to be filled with the Holy Spirit which expresses the oneness in Christ that Jesus prayed for. The Father and Son are one in the Spirit. And now Stephen is one with God and Jesus by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

I don't think we have to read special significence into it. But it is good to remember that "sitting" on the throne doesn't necessarily mean actually being in a chair of some kind. To be "seated" simply means to have a secure position. We still talk of the "sitting chairman" or "sitting President".

Christ is "seated at the right hand of God" - that is, positioned in power and authority - but I seriously doubt that He is or will be confined to a physical throne.

god bless

A person that sits on the right hand, sits in a seat of authority.
The scriptures say God made Jesus heir of all things.

Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God, interceeding for the saints (His children)-Being seeted instead of standing denotes His finished work on earth/calvary. Jewish leaders stood to read the Torah/scrolls and when finished, would then be seated but that has nothing to do with Jesus now being seated.

It is comonly taken that Jesus was standing to act as a minister to Stephen in this case... Jesus was directly looking to assure comfort to Stephen.... for those of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head, when we are in trouble and in need of Jesus, He will stand to help us as well.

THERE WILL BE MARTYRS Rev.6:9-11; 17:6; 20:1-6; I imagine Jesus does stand.

Matt.20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:

It could show Jesus's great respect for what Stephen was doing, that he stood up.

WOW. I have never seen that before. I am not sure. I bet there is something there. I could only speculate so I can't answer. But I love the thought.
