They can't be vigilantes as they don't fit the definition by their actions. A vigilante is someone who takes enforcement of law or moral code into their own hands. They are not enforcing they are simply observing violations of the law and reporting them. That's called being a good citizen. Their motivations appear to be patriotic , the defense of their nation, so patriot is.
