Either delete unnecessary files or copy ones that you don't constantly need to a CD to store it away and then delete them from your hard drive. You can delete files from Windows Explorer (highlight the files and hit the Delete key on your keyboard).

How big a hard drive do you have? Make sure you clean out the Windows Temporary directory, which might contain a lot of unneccessary files. Also, you'll want to empty the Recycle Bin to make sure you actually recover the disk space from those files that you deleted. The Recycle Bin is the mechanism that Windows uses to keep deleted files around in case you didn't mean to delete a file and want to recover it. The only problem is that the files in the Recycle Bin still take up the same amount of space as they did before. From Windows Explorer, click on the Recycle Bin and from the menu, select File > Empty.

I would highly suggest getting a program called SpaceMonger (link below). It will show you which files are taking up the most space on your hard drive. I use the free, older version (1.4.0).
