Here's a great formula you can make at home with ingredients from the market. Bottle-Feed every 4 hours or so. Make sure you burp the little bugger when he's finished.
Puppy Formula
1 can goat's milk (Usually found next to reg. canned milk at your grocer's)
Equal amount of Pedialyte
1 jar baby's beef (make sure there are no onions)
6 T whole (not low fat) yogurt
1 t Knox gelatin dissolved in hot water
1 T white Karo
(for regularity, as soon as they are regular, cut)
1 t Canine Red Cell OR any liquid high quality multi-vitamin & mineral supplement
(Missing Link worked real well for me)
1 egg yolk blotted dry, NO WHITE
(some animals have a low tolerance for eggs, watch for bloody stools,
if seen, desist immediately)
Reasons for these choices:
Most are logical.
The goat's milk is because cow's milk (such as evaporated milk) is not
readily digestible except by other cows and some humans.
Do not use the powdered variety, as the fat content has been necessarily decreased, and these guys require high fat content.
Goat's milk has a simpler lactase "base" more easily broken down. (that's not a very scientific explanation, but y'all know what I mean)
the egg yolk is a highly digestible form of protein,
no egg white because the albumen can be a salmonella carrier.
(again, be watchful for inconsistant stools.)
the baby beef (no additives) is, again, highly digestible protein.
Yogurt is to provide active cultures in their internal flora, and a good source of fat, calories & protein.
I have found Vanilla to work well, the plain is rather tart, and they don't much care for the taste, but the vanilla is more acceptable.
Knox gelatin for good connective tissues, and for eyes, to protect against Juvenile Cataracts.
Pedialyte, as opposed to GatorAid or the ilk,
is to counteract any dehydration which can be caused by loose stools.
Pedialyte replaces the electrolytes lost.
I put a wee bit of water in the empty baby food jar, popped it in the microzap for 10 sec.
and used that to dissolve the gelatin, which I then poured into the empty goat's milk can, & added the pedialyte to level the can off.
Use a blender to mix ingredients smoothly.
As pup matures, (say at 4-5 weeks) begin adding in a little Gerber's Baby Rice cereal (must be rice. Other grains tend to not be as easy to digest) to thicken. At about 5 weeks, begin adding a little WHOLE Buttermilk,
while gradually decreasing the goat's milk. But only if you can find WHOLE Buttermilk. I was unable to find it, so I opted for the fat.

He needs to be bottle fed for another week or 1 until he is beginning to eat dog food good. Buy some regular babt bottles and some puppy milk replacer from the vet or pet store. Also get some dry puppy food. Soak the food in water until it is soft. Feed him the puppy food about 4 times a dat and in between each feeding, give him a bottle and 2 oe 3 bottles during the night which means you need to set your alarm so you do not miss a feeding. If there is no one home to feed the puppy during the day, you should give it to someone who has the time to care for it.

you feed the puppy formula that you get from the vet every 2 hours and you not only have to feed the puppy but you also have to stimulate the puppy after each feeding with a towel by rubbing its back from the tail to the neck to make sure that the puppy uses the bathroom as their mother does otherwise the puppy will not go to the bathroom and that will cause problems such as kidney failure and blockage .....if you cant get the puppy formula right away then you can use evaporated milk mixed equally with water feed with either an eye dropper or a baby bottle but the formula from the vet is a must i believe it is called esbilac and it is the closest thing to the mothers milk.

If your pup have teeth, then I think it can chew dog foods for puppies that is soak on water. Feed it for about 3 times a day and about 50 to 100 grams a day, but always make sure that it gets fresh water all the time. I have got a mongrel also that I don't know its exact age but I presume it about 3 weeks old and have tried that method but sometimes the pup just love it dry so it means you can try all possible method.

Call a vet and make sure he's healthy. It's not common that puppies are abandoned by their mother for no reason. You'll need to feed him puppy formula at least 2-3 times daily. If he won't drink it from a bowl, you'll have to bottle feed. Ask the vet about the best time to introduce food but you should be able to introduce soft food in small amounts now. Good luck.

Go to the pet store- they have puppy and kitten formula and little bottles. On the container it will tell you how to feed judging by weight and age. Do not give him anything else!! At about 6 weeks you can get him a weaning formula and start dry food. Bottle feeding is fun, but it takes a lot of patience. Good luck!
And NO MILK!! I read other answers- cows milk is not suitable for puppies- it can give them severe diarrhea. Mix the formula with water. Milk proteins are in the formula mix.
Whats with the thumbs down- call a friggin vet then..... see whos answer matches up.

Awwww, I'm so sorry!
The first 6 weeks are very criticil in a puppys life. Do you leave near a Wal-mart , or a vet's office? Wal-mart sells this speical formula.
The puppy will have to be fed EVERY 2 HOURS. Night and day. Mix the formula with milk. But if you can't go to the store then heat the warm mild. Don't give it cold milk or that could give him a stomach ach.
Good Luck!

hi at 3 weeks he should still have puppy milk and starting on solids, he wont be able to drink the milk from a bowl so you would have to feed him your self. Solid food should be a puppy brand, i use pedigree tin its easier for pups to eat water it down and mash it up, pup will eat a bit a make a hugh mess so place something down, he needs feeding everytime he wakes up and cry's., so feed him on solid's first and milk afterwards, you will then need to get him to go to the toilet, use a wet (warm) cotton wool ball around wipe him down below, as mum would of licked him their so make him go, you are now his mum.
You have a lot of work a head, Did you no the mum! she may take to him now, you should get the vet to check him over, they will offer advice.
Due to his age you need to weigh him and give him a worming paste, panacur from your vet is good, this was due at 2 weeks, it has a leaflet inside to explain how much to give hime depending on his weight.
If i can help anymore email me via 360.
Good luck.

that's a pretty young pup. he needs all the attention you can give him.
first thing to do is buy some special milk formula. ask a vet about one. and then you would have to feed him yourself. using one of those nursing bottles. you'd have to do it as often as possible. say, with 2 hours interval?
and then you'd have to stimulate peeing and pooing by applying a wet tissue on his navel. start from the navel and move your way to the penis and anus. do this a couple of time and you would notice he's done his business on the tissue.

Call a vet, you'll want this puppy to get seem as soon as possible. For now make sure to keep your pup warm. Pay attention if the pup cries, they rarely do unless they are cold, hungry, sick, or in pain. they have to nurse frequently. You can find formula for puppies at your local pet store.
