Lots of good suggestions already - I'm partial to Broadway songs, myself.

However, I have found that Mandy Moore's "Only Hope" from A Walk to Remember is lovely for a talent show, especially if you (or a friend) plays the piano.

You need to listen to singers of popular songs from the 1920's through 1990's to get "wow." Listen to Rosemary Clooney if you want to learn what great singing and great lyric interpretation is all about. Also, the great popular songs are singable, unlike the difficult lyrics and melodies (if there is one) of most modern songs. Even one with a thin voice with little range can sound "wow" with a popular song such as "The Man I Love." Diana Ross really does that song justice. So do all the other singers, including Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand. If you want "wow" you have to stand out and give them something they think is new but may have been a standard for 50+ years.

Lets see. If you have a low range, sing a Lucy's solo from Jekyll and Hyde. If youre looking for a fast, jumpy song, sing By the Sea from Sweeney Todd. If you have a mezzo range, then sing Memory from Cats. If youre looking for a faster song, then sing It takes two from Into the woods but thats a duet, just letting you know. If youre a really high soprano, then sing Green Finch and Linnet Bird from Sweeney todd. Thats a hard song but it should sound nice. If youre looking for something foreign language, then you should sing un bel di, vedremo from Madame Butterfly, but that is an unbelievably difficult song.

I will Love Again as sung by Lara Fabian

Unusual Way as sung by Linda Eder from the musical Nine

I Don Quixote as sung by Linda Eder from the musical Man of La Mancha

Those are some pretty good "wow" songs. At least they work for me.

it depends what your range is

maybe try singing something from a musical such as Wicked maybe im not that girl (slow and sad. don't need much talent ot sing it though)

maybe Think of me from Phanotm of the Opera (very hard song though really high)

Find your Grail from Spamalot (one of my favorite fun, slow, and kind of low maybe alto/soprano)

My favorite songs of all time are On myOwn and I Dreamed A Dream from Les Mis. (both beautiful sad songs, two of the greatest songs ever written)

If you want something popish or junk like that maybe sing
becuase of you by Kelly Clarkson, seriously its the only song i can stand of her
welp good luck!

this may be an exceptionally obscure question. The song determination relies upon on lots of issues. which includes your vocal thoughts (gentle and sluggish, Contemp, Rock, Rap..etc.), your voice form (Soprano, alto), in case you desire song with it, and if there's a message you will possibly prefer to deliver out to the student physique. I even have constantly loved the Superchick songs "hero" and "severe college" they the two have good messages. chuffed song searching and good success with the skills practice

if u have a normal range voice... you should sing something like "A Moment like This"...by Kelly Clarkson. Its a really beautiful song with some really strong points to it.

well if you really want people to be like "wow" you should do something from a musical... those are always alot more entertaining than a pop song
