God disciplines each differently, like your parents as a idea for you to understand. God told her Not to look back or she would be turned into a pillar of salt. God sets certain discipline for certain actions. God has alot of patience and will always be there for you when you mess up if you turn to Him. The cool thing is when you ask God sincerely for forgiveness He forgives you and doesn't remember. He throws it as far as the east is from the west. So while you are tested to grow stronger in faith you are also always forgiven when you seek forgiveness.

Lot's wife looked back because she didn't really want to leave. She loved her life there, even though the people were evil. What a great idea, if you kill someone you turn into salt. That would certainly end wars. Right on!

God could simply appear and say, "hey cut out all this theological bickering, this is my true religion, those people over there picking their noses - follow them, do as they say, and if you're faithful then we'll all throw down the jam at the end of the party." But no, he wouldn't do that because either he doesn't exist or because he wants billions to take the wrong road to hell.

I have finally had enough of my three year old hitting his brother and it is time to take action. I tell him to go sit in the corner and I tell his brother to go to the living room and take a break. The brother says "why daddy? I want to stay here." So I say "Fine,, then you're both in time out." How short is my patience?

God has ten trillion times ten trillion times the patience of Job and more.
(and Job was a VERY patient man)
if it was otherwise,
He would have destroyed mankind long ago.

I pose an answer with a question. God has perfect forgiveness (which we, as human being do not), can there be anything short of perfect patience?

Jehovah has a short fuse indeed. Fortunately, the true God of Jesus is Love. Love is patient and compassionate.

God's "patience" is infinite. You have an infinite number of opportunities to find your way back to heaven. Don't take those stories in the bible literally.
