Nope. I have a pit and he loves cats, dogs and children. He walks nicely on a leash and he has better manners than most dogs I know. I work at a shelter and for the most part all the pits I see are nice. Their biggest flaw is their tarnished rep. Don't give in the the stereotypes. Look at each dog for his/her personality and judge from there.

the question about the pit bull banning will always happen but people forgot that the most famous people have had pit bulls Helen Keller even are truly president Woodrow Wilson. they shouldn't band a whole bread just because of there blood line. that's just like saying that because you skin color is "pink" we are going to kill you. Humans kill just as many people as any dog would. so do we kill the entire human race? no we always blame it on the parents. we should blame the way pit bulls act or any dog for that matter base on the owner. We bread pit bulls and never once have we had a dog turn its back on anybody but also we do back ground checks, we chip are pups so we know where they are and what they are doing and we have access to there medical charts, and we dont sell are pits for 100 or 200 the way we look at it is if somebody was willing to pay 500 for a dog or even more is not going to treat it like crap.

I have never owned one that even showed a hint of aggression towards a person. I have not allowed any of them to kill/maul a neighbors pet, but if given the chance any one of them would.
Something people need to learn, and understand, is that people aggression is a completely different thing than animal aggression. A dog that attacks another animal is no more likely to bite a person than the dog who doesnt attack other animals. Most APBTs will be aggressive with other animals. This is something anyone wanting to own a pit bull type dog needs to understand. You cant leave your pit alone with other animals. Also, APBTs are the only breed to have been specifically bred to NOT be people aggressive. If a dog in the pit bit one of the handlers or the judge he would automatically be disqualified and lose. Responsible breeders would cull dogs with people aggression.
I trust any one of my APBTs around my nieces and anyone else. However, it is my belief that no dog of any breed should be left alone with children.

If my dog EVER EVER EVER EVER intentionally made negative contact with a human, I would have him evaulated to make sure there was no underlying reason for this (medical or behavioral) and if it could not be fixed, i would euthanize him. Pit Bulls are such amazing dogs and as much as I love my Snoopy, I would not allow his mishap make it any harder for me to own another pit bull.

I also am responsible enough not to let him get to any of my neighbors pets. He is dog aggressive and will not get along with other dogs and he is not a fan of small animals like squirrels or cats. I wont allow him to be in a situation where he has to choose between acting like a good boy or satisfying his prey drive at my expense. That's what springpoles and flirt poles are for.

Oh wait, my dog has hurt people. With his whip of a tail!

My neighbors 3 cats and chewowa went missing a few weeks ago... I saw some small feet in my dogs stool the next day, but I don't think they can prove that it was my pit bull fluffy that did it.

In all seriousness though Pitt bulls are very nice pets. I wouldn't get one though because the mere name frightens people so you will have the cards stacked against you from the beginning if anything ever happens.

Never owned a pit bull, but we had a neighbor that wolf hybrid tried to pull a pit bull through a chain link fence. The hybrid did so much damage that the pit had to be put down.

I do not personally have a pit bull but it is the people who make the dog mean not the dog its self. When you see dogs maul people the dog was made to be like that

Yes, when I lived in apt's before husband and I were married, I seen a visitor of another apt. tenant bring his pet pit bull into the hall way.
Then when husband and I returned, the police were there with the dog catcher, and took the pit bull away, the man was angry as he**.
But this poor women was crying, and all I heard was "that dog attacked our cat, this is an apt. there arent suppose to be dogs here".

Never did get the whole story, but Im sure her cat didnt pose a threat to that pit bull.
But, the owner didnt look very remorseful, and Im almost sure he wasnt very good owner if this dog attacked someone's cat.

One of my very good friend's has a pit bull and this dog is a sweetheart. She loves to snuggle on the bed with you, and once she knows you and figures out you are a good person you are her best friend and the best person in the world. She changed my mind on pit bulls and I plan on having one when I'm older.

Our pit bull didn't kill a neighbor's pet but killed our German Sheppard though. Was always looking to fight with any animal that came in sight. Never really trusted the dog with children.
