One of my cat just died because of Panleukopenia, it's a type of virus that spread within cats and if your cat has been dewormed and vaccinated regularly, your cat may stay higher chance to live longer. I feel so sad until now because she (my cat) used to be a very loving cat she would always jump and sleep on my thigh whenever she saw me but now that she's gone so I hope everyone of you (cats' owner) would take your cat to have a regular check-up at the veterinary. My cat used to have these symptom before things get fatal, she refused to eat & drink, she had high fever and she was reluctant to walk too, so please don't take these symptoms easy because your cat may suffer from Panleukopenia virus too. Panleukopenia will strike if your cat has low white blood to cultivate antibody inside its body, and virus will start spreading inside his body until he can't sustain the pain anymore. If your cat refused to drink, he/she will gets dehydrated and collapse later.

Unfortunately I too had a cat die from Panleukopenia Virus. My vet said it is similar to AIDS in people but not spread from cat to human. There is a vaccine for it so if you get another cat, make sure to have it tested and then vaccinated. Some cats can carry the virus and not get sick. This is a problem for a multi-cat household. Please get another cat. The ones you get from a shelter usually are already tested, maybe even vaccinated. Shelter kitties are usually a really good pet. They seem to know they have been rescued. Good luck to you.

I lost a cat to feline leukemia about 15 years ago. He lost his appetite....then became partially paralyzed. His running mate was lucky and avoided the disease.....and lived to be 19...but it can be contageous among cats.

I sympathize with you. Your question might spur other cat owners to be sure and GET THEIR FURRY FRIENDS VACCINATED. The shots are inexpensive....and the cost is nothing compared to years of joyous companionship.
