Catfish is the best fish to eat in my opinion. They are mud suckers but that is what gives them their great flavor.
I deep-fry them. Roll catfish fillets in yellow cornmeal mixed with some salt and pepper. YUMMO!
Once you try this you will love it.
P.S. Don't buy the catfish nuggets. They are the stomach meat off the fish and don't taste very well. Buy the catfish fillets instead. Ask the meat man in your supermarket. Good luck.

I don't know what they eat, but catfish is possibly my favorite fish (or perhaps second-favorite after salmon). Broiled and then dipped in melted butter. Mmm. Yum.
What an animal eats has little bearing on what kind of meat they produce unless they're poisonous. Look at what pigs eat, for gods' sake, and nobody shrinks away from their sausage or bacon or ham sandwiches because of it. Cows in mass-farming facilities are probably fed so much garbage that we would be grossed out if we knew. They certainly don't roam the plains, feasting on fresh green grass.

Catfish is about the most pristene meat of most fish...if mercury contamination is a issue in your area..moderation should be used..please check with your local fish and game authority to find out. I have enjoyed catfish all of my life !!

Not anymore. most are farmed and are trained to eat floating food. You could tell if the Catfish feed from the bottom. THe flesh is grey. THe natural ones are yellow (caught from a lake). THe one that does not eat from the bottom, their flesh is white.

Catfish are scavengers. So, it depends on where they are caught or farmed.
Farmed catfish is of course better because their diet is controlled. For wild-caught catfish, is depends on where they are caught. Avoid those caught from heavily-polluted areas or nearby toxic factories, etc.

Catfish are fine (so long as the waters that they are pulled from are not heavily polluted)
