Ear tubes (myringotomy) is a minor procedure where an incision is made in the eardrum, fluid is withdrawn, and a tiny tube is placed in the eardrum. This tube will allow proper drainage of the middle ear, and will allow for for the area behind the eardrum to stay dry and free from fluid buildup. Excessive fluid behind the eardrum allows bacteria to flourish and causes ear infections.
You will be placed under general anesthesia, and a doctor called an anesthesiologist will oversee your care. This means you will be completely asleep during the surgery.
The tubes will fall out when they are no longer needed. In some cases they may not fall out, but that doesn't happen that often. I had to have an ear tube removed, scar tissue removed, and a hole (perforation) in the eardrum repaired this year, and this procedure was called a tympanoplasty. My tubes stayed in for more than 20 years! Doctors don't see that very often, and they all were shocked to see them there.I have also had chronic ear problems throughout my life. Everyone that I have known has had theirs fall out as normal.
You will be back up and up to normal in no time! This is a really simple operation, and you should be feeling like your normal old self in no time at all. Best wishes to you!

doctors called anesthesiologist are the ones who put people to sleep.. if you will be under general endotracheal anesthesia (you can that tube that goes through the mouth), you will be injected with a muscle relaxant (through your iv line) so your vocal cord muscles will not contract while inserting the tube.. at the same time probably, an inhalational anesthetic will likewise be given so you'll fall asleep faster..

btw, what tubes do you mean?
