He is showing dominance because he does not respect you as the boss. Do not allow this behavior. Smack him and tell him no and put him in a down every time and quit babying him. You need to start being the boss if you do not your dog will be happy to take the job.

It's a dominance thing. I don't think getting it fixed will help. Even females will hump! You have to show him that you're the alpha of the pack! You can do this by turning him on his back and holding him there till he's still for about 30 seconds then let him up. When I did this with mine I'd tell him, Look at me the whole time I was holding him down even if he didn't. You might need to do this several times a day. He needs to know you're the alpha. This should stop it.

Dominance---that's all it is. You have to show you're dog you're in charge, not him. How? Think like a dog, seriously. YOU enter/exit your home first, the dog second. Take your dog for long walks--if you encounter other dogs, stand b/w your dog and the other dog (don't freak out or pamper your dog) and snap the leash & tell your dog quiet. This is just a start. Haven't you ever seen packs of animals before? There's one that's the leader & with a glance he gets, and keeps, the pack in control...THIS is what you have to become, the leader.

Because he/she wants to. Get them fixed and it will stop. I have a female min-pin that humps my female Boxer. Don't think it means she's gay, just means she's in heat and is doing what nature tells her to. As soon as she makes that trip to the vet, it will stop. Until then, when she does it, we just say her name loudly and she quits.

1. get your dog fixed! Once those hormones are gone, it should stop. It did with my dog.
2. when he does it, yell, make yourself look as menacing as possible, and remove yourself from the dog's vicinity.
