Probably what you cut off was a skin tag. Moles are not usually raised up enough to cut it off. You have to cut it OUT. Its not a good idea to do this, as the other poster said, infections are certainly an issue. We scratch off skin tags with no problems, but, if it is a large noticeable area you might regret doing that. Another thing. If this is new, and an unusual shape, Melanoma is always a possibility ,that is why doctors send this type of tissue to the pathologist to make sure it is not cancer. You can be any age to get skin cancer. Next time, see the doctor, it takes seconds to remove them, and you don't have all the crap to deal with later.

I had a little mole that was right where necklaces lay and when I was 15 I cut it off. I used ice to numb the area. Used a lit candles fire to sterilize the scissors and then washed everything down with alcohol. It hurt like hell doing it but was over quickly. It bled for like 2 weeks but nothing more an a bandaid a day. The mole came back a bit. It looks more like a freckle and doesn't get tangled on my necklaces now.

Do not cut off yourself ever. The one you describe sounds more like a larger size Skin tag. A Mole not first diagnosed, could be cancerous, if cut, the cancer can and will take off and spread.
If it kid of hangs or can be moved around but is attached to your body with a stem, is usually a Skin tag. You could tie a thin thread around the base to stop Blood supply, it will die off after a few Days.

You could risk infection if not cleaned properly, and depending on how attached it is, you could need a stitch.. but mostly you risk getting a scar that is just as noticeable as the mole. Do not cut it off yourself, call a dermatologist to do it for you!

If YOU cut the mole of, an infection could set in. You could get sick and die. Like I would tell anyone who ask medical questions on line; DON'T ASK SOME YAHOO ON YAHOO, SEE THE PROFESSIONALS!

I had some moles removed, some were cut out, some were burned.
Don't remove it yourself, or you might bleed to death.

CANCER!!! You are far better off leaving it the heck alone. The scar you will be left with may be worse then the mole - are you that vain? I know for sure you are more than the mole on your body.

Get it removed by a doctor. Moles that are irregular could possibly be cancerous.

I had moles. Go out onto your garden. Kneel down and bark like a dog. It scares them. They think you're going to burrow down and eat them. They dig tunnels into your neighbour's land and then stay there. Then put hoses dwon their holes and flush each one through on high pressure. The burrows will collapse and stop the little devils returning from your neighbour's side. :-)
