How about asking what he thinks of some class, or some teacher or basketball, or football or what's his favorite bands. What movies does he want to see? What movies has he seen? What's his favorite TV shows? Does he have a brother, a sister, are they pains in the neck or are they ok? Where does he live? Where did he live before that? Where is his family from? Where does he go on vacation?Where would he like to go on vacation?

Tell him, hey what's goin' on? Ask him if he would like to go get an ice cream or something...ask him what video games he likes etc. But don't give it to him around a bunch of his friends. Good luck

There are lots of things 13 yr olds can talk about,even if you both are shy;music,tv shows,movies,hobbies likes dislikes,school,family...See,lots of things!
