The short answer is that you should not use human shampoo on any dogs or cats.

The long answer:
Human shampoo is made based on our biological make-up. A big part of shampoos is their pH (how acidic or alkaline they are). Human shampoo is from 7 to 8 on the pH scale, while dogs and cats need a different pH.

Using human shampoo can cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. It can also cause dry and flaky skin, increased shedding, and skin infections (due to stripping all the natural oils from the coat of the animal and letting bacteria get in and take hold). I've also seen it cause contact dermatitis (which is like an allergic reaction on the skin) and it can also cause the skin to be more susceptible to yeast infections.

Cat skin is also extremely sensitive - more so than a humans or dogs. This is one of the reasons that when you buy shampoo, it is for dogs/puppies or cats/kittens.

One person mentioned washing your pet in dish soap. This is ONLY recommended if you happen to be a penguin coated in oil from an oil spill. There is a "trick" if you're pet has a greasy coat - you can add 2-3 drops of dish soap to the amount of pet shampoo you use to help cut the greasiness, but no more than that.

I would definitely say no. Shampoos for humans are not made for the skin or hair of cats. Purchase a shampoo that is safe for cats... it would be horrible to cause your cat harm or discomfort when buying a safe/tested shampoo is so easy.
You do not need to give the cat a bath unless he/she has gotten into something messy or has fleas. Cats do not need regular bathing (in water) like we do.
Good luck

Why do you need to bathe your cat at all? Cats do an excellent job of keeping themselves clean, unless they're ill and that would be a bad time for a bath anyway. If the cat has fleas, Frontline is a better solution, easy to use and available at the vet's. If your cat smells bad, then there may be something wrong and you should check with a vet. A normal healthy cat will smell fine and keep itself clean.

I specific desire so. My cat some years in the past have been given seizures from the Hartz flee drugs. She had seizures approximately 2 a month at times greater often until eventually she ultimately surpassed directly to the excellent beyond 7yrs later. I purely purchase drugs from the vet now. I often use benefit (pink style because of the fact via cat is a beast) yet i latterly moved and the vet in the community purely sells those tablets so i became very hesitant yet i desperate to objective it and that i did no longer have any issues and it labored great so i visit be procuring that for the duration of the destiny. Plus the pill became purely 15 with tax so it very low-priced.

No, because of the chemicals in it, cats clean themselves by licking and this could poison it. You would be better off getting a special cat shampoo, I would not take the risk.

Generally no - it will probably be too harsh and strip oils out of the cat's coat. Better to use a shampoo made for cats and rinse it out completely.

Please buy a cat shampoo for your cat!!!!

I really dont understand why some people could be so ignorant sorry to say that but could you please treat your cat nicely? cats require their own shampoo that was designed for cats and dont feed your cat "human" food because the food might have high sodium which will caused Kidney Failure..If you can't even afford to buy a cat's shampoo for your cat, please don't get a cat at the 1st place because you could get your cat into problems later if you didnt treat her well so Please follow your vet's doc's advise on how to take care a cat.

it depends on the shampoo..some chemicals in shampoo can hurt the cat but if your cat isn't losing all of it's hair or dead go for it

I don't think it would harm a cat, but is not the best option. The oil in cat's hair is different than ours and might dry out the cat's coat. Also it could irritate the cats' eyes.

Wow - I can't give my cat a bath with any shampoo! She just won't tolerate it at all!

I think if it's mild or gentle and you use just a bit - I think it would be okay .
:)
