You probably need to focus more on relaxing your throat and instead using more support.
Try laying down on a table or the floor with a thick, heavy book on your stomach. Relax and keep your arms right beside you. Breathe in and try to make the book raise as much as possible. Breathe out on "s", "sch", "f" for as long as possible.
You should also see a singing teacher. Good luck!

To sing properly with a wide range and clear voice is as others
have already suggested: with your diaphragm pushing the air
from your lungs and passing over your vocal coards. In addition
to that, you must open your mouth wide to allow clear words to
exit. Sing to the top of your head while imagining the crown of
your head is a sounding board.
Try singing "haaaaaaaaaaa" at the highest note you can reach
comfortably. Repeat that exercise for at least twenty minutes.
You must really use your diaphragm as the instrument to push
your words out; all the time.
I suspect you are anxious and nervous, which chokes the words
into your throat, causing a gutteral sound. Also, if your problem
is singing in front of an audience, you should look over the heads
of the people as if they were not in the room. Set your sight upon
the top corner of the room where the wall and ceiling join, while
you sing to an imaginary person in that corner, preferably
someone you dearly love and wish to please. Transmit your song
with feeling and clarity. If you have performed well, you will know
it, because, as I have noticed, my scalp seems to tingle and my
hair seems to stand on end. What a wonderful feeling it is;
expecially if that sensation teams up with a warm feeling in
your heart.

first of all you need to see if you are breathing right... have someone hold your shoulders down because if your shoulders go up when you take a deep breath than you are breathing wrong...your stomach should go out...once you get the breathing right you should get someone to push thier fist into your stomach really hard then sing and when you sing try to push thier hand out with your diaphram...i did that and it helped me so much.........it works...not only do you stop singing from your throat but you sing alot louder

You might be singing too "breathy". Sing the word "sing" and hold the "ng". Then, in that position, go up and down the scales like a siren. Go as low and as high as you can.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
