i don't know what to choose

They are both good choices!!! Of course I am partial to the Dobermans since I have owned them for 25+ years. Don't believe the ones that mention the reputation of the Dobermans. They have probably never owned one. At the present I have three and out of EVERYONE ( total of 9 ) that I have had NONE has ever been vicious!!!!! As far as them being around children, my dogs were raised around both my children and grand children. Choosing a dog is always a personal preference!!!! Good luck with which ever breed you may choose.

If you want a guard dog, I would prefer a Rottweiler over a Doberman as Rotties are not as hyper. If you want a people friendly companion, go with a Golden Retriever.

I had a golden so I'm partial to them. It depends on your situation. If you have children around, definitely a golden. If you're thinking more about protection, definitely a doberman. Keep in mind that goldens are very hairy and they leave it everywhere. But, goldens are like the angels of dogs and they are lots of fun as far as playing ball, taking them to the beach (they are water dogs and love to swim and they are very social with other dogs). It depends. they are very different breeds. Research both breeds and decide what you want. Goldens are sweet, gentle dogs and are generally good with kids, but terrible for protection. Dobermans are devoted to their owners but maybe not the best choice for a household with small children. But they are good for protection.

It depends on your family situation. If you want a more protective dog, get the doberman. If you want a loveable, family dog, get the golden.

a retriever a loving loyal friendly dog! but then again so is a doberman they get very attatched to their owners being very protective x

Both are active, good dogs. I've owned both and I have to say Dobbies are my favorite of the two. If you have small children though, goldens.
