oh yes, it sure is. Scares the crap out of people and makes them easier to manipulate.

Unless people are able to be brainwashed and think they can fool God about why they have decided to "believe" in Him.....they don't take Hell as a threat to follow Him. Hell in most cases means the grave..and we all go there once..now hell-fire is a different story..that is where the wicked go at the end of time when God finally does away with sin..but even then how long would your body burn for..just as long as there is something to burn..maybe seconds..
Be assured that Hell as in hellfire is the way to cleanse the earth of sin and imperfection. It is our choice if we follow God or we don't. God does not need to threaten us into loving Him..Most love Him for who He is.

no it is a threat to make people follow Christianity, and the other abrihamic religions.
my religion has no hell, and no punishment in the afterlife. anything that you do wrong will come back to you in this life, or the next. but the afterlife is a time to reflect and to process what you learned in life.
i am a Celtic Pagan.

No, its a threat to make people follow religious leaders. Just like threats of terrorism are used to make people follow political leaders.
I'll give you an example. You are going to die from a disease called Yahooansweritis, but I have a secret cure. The cure has to be taken right before you die or it won't work. I can't show it to you, but if you do everything I tell you I will give it to you right before you die.
Would you do everything I told you?

It's just a reminder...........
Did you know that the person with the least number of sins...........who'll be in hell .........his punishment will be this:
the ground beneathe this persons feet will be boiling .......it will be so intense that his brain starts boiling
thats the smallest punishment in hell
the worse one i heard is that there will be like a hook in someones mouth that will tear half of his face ....the whole cheek.... and this will keep on repeating (and this is for a particular sin which i do not remember....if you're really interested in knowing i could find it out for you)
i just wish people would take this life seriously.....everyones out their ...living for fun, people are greedy , materialistic............
Hell is just a reminder
In my religion ........... our Holy book states that Hell is what no mind has imagined and same goes for Heaven
So Hell is ALOT worse than what we imagine

Of course. Wouldn't you be scared into religion if you knew for a fact that you'd burn in hell for not believing?

Yes, for sure. Christians and other religions sell tickets to heaven. If you don't wanna buy one, then they' give you an All Inclusive one way trip to hell for free.

Hell is eternal seperation from the existance of God. Some just really see God as an invasion of their personal lives here on earth and really don't want anything to do with Him. People who don't want anything to do with Him in this life - well I guess they make their choice...
