After you take him to court, a judgment will be awarded in your favor and this will show up on his credit. And will affect it negatively. All court judgments, small or big, against you will show up on your credit.

You can take him to court - small claims court is good if the amount fits within the limits in your locality.

You can't just report somebody to a credit bureau.

You could maybe take him to small claims court, but you have to be able to prove he owes you money to win your case. No, you can't report him to the credit bureau's unless he owes you money through a business you own and once again you would have to have documentation of this debt.
