My son is 18, when he drinks milk, or some brands of ice cream, and use crest toothpaste.. and chapstick of all kinds...

his lips would swell up the next day and secrete a sticky liquid. and a rash would appear around his mouth. one or two tiny bumps appear. nothing painful. but he says its an irritating sensation in and around his lips.
after a few days his lips would be really dry and cracked, the irritating feeling remains. the dry lips lasts a very long time, takes a week or two .. sometimes up to a month to heal depending on how much milk he drank.

it does sound like an allergy. Herpes on the mouth often involves cold sores. He should still get checked out by a doctor.

The symptoms sound like oral herpes, however if the sores are directly related to drinking milk and eating ice cream, it might be some kind of dairy allergy. If he uses the chapstick when the sores are oozing and then uses it again when they have healed, he might be re-infecting his lips (if indeed it is herpes or another infectious disease.) I'm not sure about the toothpaste though. Take him to the doctor and get an allergy test!

Apply 100% pure coconut oil (I recommend Nui Brand only) and apply directly to the problem areas. Would it be too difficult to cut out the foods that are causing the problem?
