My son is 18, when he drinks milk, or some brands of ice cream, and use crest toothpaste.. and chapstick of all kinds...
his lips would swell up the next day and secrete a sticky liquid. and a rash would appear around his mouth. one or two tiny bumps appear. nothing painful. but he says its an irritating sensation in and around his lips.
after a few days his lips would be really dry and cracked, the irritating feeling remains. the dry lips lasts a very long time, takes a week or two .. sometimes up to a month to heal depending on how much milk he drank.

hes had this for 2 years now, it re-occurs when he drinks milk/anything with alot of milk in it, and uses certain brands of toothpaste. hes freaking out, and im worried, but does herpes re-occur from milk and toothpaste? thats all we really need to do.. he already tries to stay away from the stuff, but he was having tea the other day and little did he know it had alot of milk in it.
