If multiple religions are taught in a class such as a cultural diversity or religion and philosophy, there are actually a few benefits.
1. Would give a wide basis/background on law and morality.
2. Would give background to understanding many different cultures.
3. Would give students a basis for deciding for themselves what they believe, rather than what they've been told to believe.
4.Would give students an idea of why various religions disagree with one another.
However, if it's taught as a Sunday School class with only one view point, the only marginal benefit I can think of is that everyone would be told to believe the same thing and there MIGHT be fewer arguments about how to believe. It could also be argued, I suppose, that students might be more submissive to authority and do what they're told rather than think for themselves.

PROS = Longer Version
Here are the Ten (was five) PROS only!
1) Freedom of Religion already exist so that is the biggie of why I think it needs to be back in the public school's.
2) The kid's will not have any fear from classmates about speaking to other classmates who have the same faith as them.
3) The kid's can choose during there free time to read their religion's Bible with out harassment from authority or classmate.
4) They will get to wear their religion's Tshirts, Like the Christians and catholics have Tshirts the kids like to wear. That is if there is not a dress code already in the school.
5) The kid's will be able to pray freely in the classroom's as well.
6) The freedom to wear Crosses as Jewelry in Necklesses and Earring's. Some Public School's are so strick cause its part of the Christian religion that they don't want any student to even wear it as Necklesses or Earring's.
7) Freedom of Writting Religious Symbol's on there Notebook's.
8) Freedom of Putting up Religious signs in there locker.
9) Having Christian Club's during Club time (not sure what its called anymore) The name was changed when I was in high school over 10 year's ago.
10) Freedom for Religious students to go to Religious Website's during free periods. I'm sure some school's don't even allow this and want them to only do so at home, not at school.
So the top Ten (was five) answer's are... (Shorter Version)
1) Freedom of Religion
2) Freedom of Speaking about Religion
3) Freedom of Bible Reading
4) Freedom of Wearing Religious TShirt's
5) Freedom of Prayer
6) Freedom of Religious Jewelry
7) Freedom of Religious Symbol's
8) Freedom of Religious Sgns in Locker's
9) Freedom of Christian Club's
10) Freedom of Religious Website's
Hope these PRO's only help you with your debate.

UMMM Religion draws lines of what is good and bad also a reason why.
I think Religion keeps children from corruption.
Also I think it gives a reason to why we even exist.
It also lets children know that there are consequences to every decision they make.
Children would have better moral values. They would respect people and things around us more.
Children would be discipline.
Hope it helps.
Good luck :)

Do you mean prayer? Well I don't think it should occur in public schools either.
Pros, though, is that religious gives people good virtues and that makes them good citizens.
Secondly, by showing a fondness to religion, people will learn tolerance toward the different sects
Thirdly, it helps to create discipline

If you are going to be a good debater you really do need to be able to see the pros your self. But asking questions is still a good start.
Try this. Religion provides a mechanism for teaching social skills and ethics. Im not saying thats entirely true, but in a debate its about wether you can build a convincing arguement, that christians do quite often. And this is something they may use

All religions are values based. Non religions have no values and no absolutes. Religions and faiths provide a foundation from which the educational system works better. That foundation of values give the educators tools to create an atmosphere of discipline and security in which students can learn. Without values, there is no need for discipline or rules.

Above everything else, people will gain some knowledge of other religions, rather than rely on common stereotypes and misconceptions that are so rampant in today's society. This will cause a domino effect of people being more tolerant of others, people being allowed to freely practice their religion without fear of harassment (a freedom in America, but so many are still harassed), more respect for others, etc.

I think back in the before time it was an easy way to connect the community to the school. Everyone spoke the same "language" as far as how kids should be brought up.

Since exposure to religion has been taken out of schools, children and teenagers are left with a vacuum to mold their lives on---there are more drugs, pregnancies, and violence. Young people need to be exposed to religion at school so they can decide for themselves. Very few are exposed at home.
