Height back then wasn't really a big deal as far as I know, I mean keeping up with it, but I was just wondering...

Van Gogh was said to be 5'7" tall. He fit into the normal height of Dutch-born men from that time period. His good friend and fellow painter, Paul Gauguin, stood at 6'3". During that time few European men were that tall and Gauguin must have commanded attention because of his height.
