Some people try to but they get confused, so that's why they are on here.

I agree, however, that most people are just typing it on here to act confused and they just let others do it for them.

I am inclined to agree with you, however, I also look back on all the homework that I did (and I did all of my own work!) and I can't say that I learned a whole lot about anything more than how to skim books quickly to find the exact phrase so that I could fill in the blank on the worksheets. At least in high-school.

I wonder sometimes if we gave students homework that actually engaged them developmentally, intellectually, and spiritually (no, I don't mean religion, I just mean tackling the great questions that everyone must deal with) and let them do a project completely of their own choosing in whatever subject most interests them, if they wouldn't be more receptive to doing their own work, knowing that they were being taken seriously as young adults and that they would be able to spend some time on something that they really enjoyed.

Did you ever hear the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"? We all need help sometimes. Some of these kids don't have parents or others to help them, so they ask questions here. No one can know everything there is to know. Sometimes we're better at one thing than another; like some people are great at English but really suck at math. It's ok to ask for help.

I don't agree that people should ask others to write their paper for them, or ask others to figure out all their math problems. But it's ok to ask someone for ideas, or ask someone to do one problem so they can get the hang of it and do the rest themselves. Sometimes we just need a little inspiration. Sometimes we just need others to tell us we've done it right, done a good job.

Some of the people who ask may have been sick and are way behind in their studies. Maybe some have parents who don't care or don't know enough to help them. Perhaps some have English as their second language, or are new to a school and trying to catch up. It's not right to judge others when they ask for help. Someday you'll need help, because we all do at one time or another; I hope people don't call you a slacker or a failure when that day comes. :(

My suggestion is that if it bothers you when people ask for homework help, you should stay away from that forum and spend time in the areas you agree with and like.
