A whole long list of reasons. They see us as imperialistic and evil, and after Iran-contra, taking Palestine away from the Palestinians and installing the Israelis, bombing Iraq, bombing it again for good measure, stealing their oil...you get the idea?
It has a less-logical religious aspect. Basically, there are some fanatics that think Christianity is a false religion just like there are many fanatics on this site claiming that Islam is a false religion. Personally, I think they both have the right idea about the other one, but that's besides the point. The really crazy world-domination ones get a lot of press, but they are not an accurate representation of all Muslims.

they don't need human beings there responsible their leaders for each and each of the ills that they have got brought about. To mitigate the blame on their leaders. The inward resentment they have outfitted up from a harsh psuedo religous existence. So, they search for scapegoats, and one scapegoat is u . s . of america. So, if truth be told, yet under no circumstances in practice the leaders of the midsection East are the real devils!

I'm not sure, but from my viewpoint here in America, I think it's a political phrase, possibly taken from the Koran. I don't know the Koran, but I've talked to several people who do and they've told me there is NOTHING in it that justifies the attitude, words, or actions of those who hate us. So it must be political, and those who hate us are hiding behind the skirts of religion in order to make themselves feel good and at the same time make their cause appear righteous to other Muslims. I know that the phrase "white Devil" comes from the American Black Muslim movement.

Same reason so many Americans call the Middle East the Axis of Evil; one nut with power said so, and everyone should believe him because he MUST be right. This is what happens when the wrong people are handed so much power.
