Although English is a widely accepted second language, I would think that there are more Arabic speakers.
I know that people brought up statistics, but does it mean that all those people speak English as their mother tongue?
UK+US+Australia+Canada (...2/3) = English
Morocco+ Tunisia+Algeria+Libya+Egypt+Sudan+Saudia Arabia+Yemen+Jordan+Syria+Lebanon+the 'Stans+Turkey+Iraq+Iran and some other countries I don't remember = Arabic.
The statistics said above me could definitely be true, i just think it's odd.

English probably is spoken/studied by more people in more countries, although practicing Muslims worldwide often study Arabic to be able to read Quran and recite prayers.
