The only people who can claim children on their income tax are the parents or "legal" guardians.

Sadly to say, yes they can ,If the kids were their own especially. Now if you had legal custody of the kids during that time frame and you supported the kids more than 50%.than you should be able to claim them .Without the legal custody papers it would be kind of hard to proof the situation to the IRS in case they decide to audit you later.you should be able to claim them for yourself, but unfortunately the people tat are also gonna claim them are out for the money.they should at least offer you have of what they get i think.but most people are to selfish to even think about doing something like this to show their appreciation.i `ll hope for you that they will maby think about you a little.

The kids can only be claimed once, if they plan on claiming them then you cannot. Technically if you provide more than half the financial support for someone you should be the one to claim them. See if they will let you have the deduction for the year, but if they say no then don't do it or you will be the one in trouble.

clam? mouths? and bad grammar i see yes only the parent unless they let you claim them on your taxes for a hefty sum of the money you can do it but you'll probably be fitted for your prison outfit next so that is money gone down the drain

you have to prove that you supported them fully for more than six months. if you dont have any documentation from a atuority i wouldnt do it as the audit will make it not worth it. see a tax pro even if you can claim them so you get some audit protection and a professional opinion.

No only the legal guardian can claim them UNLESS the parent/parents sign a form giving you permission to claim them for that time. Which I doubt they will do

No , not unless you have a Tax ID # they can use for reporting to IRS; and then you need to claim as taxable income.
