JL W6 subs run best in odd numbers. This is because they are designed to run at 3 ohm's. This in unique to JL and most other speakers are 4 or 8 ohm's depending on its use. What does that matter? Well when you hook these speakers up to you amp the ohms add up and effect how the amp produces power. This is called the ohm load. Now there are two different ways to wire JL subs, Parallel and in a series. Wired in parallel s running the wires to the sub and hooking them up to one side of the sub and connecting positive to positive and neg to neg with the other side of the subs. When wired in a series the sub comes alive and uses the power supplied to it most effectively. To wire like this the wire will run to the sub and the positive on one side and the neg on the other will be used and the other pos and neg will be hooked together with a jumper wire. If you plan to wire them like this do not try running four of them because the ohm load will be way more than the amp can handle. Hope I have been helpful.
