There is such a shortage of nurses in the US...we import them now. With her grades and ACT score I am certain you can find a scholarship or program for your cousin.
Call a few nursing schools(perhaps ones your cousin is interested in already), they may be able to direct you to a scholarship specifically for nurses or their school.
Good luck!

Well, I was in the exact same position last year. First of all things, your cousin still needs to fill out a FAFSA.... this is a way to determine if there are any grants (free money!!!) are out there for her financial situation. Also another no always so great way to get through college is getting a job and working it off as she goes along. Many schools have programs that she can get into that will be on-campus and really flexible. Other than that, student loans really aren't that bad... they have low interest rates and don't have to be paid off until after she is out of school. Hope this helps a little bit.

There are many scholarship programs out there for nursing students since there is a nursing shortage. The state and federal governments have assistance for those who want to study nursing too including student loan forgiveness on some level if a student is willing to work in a particular area which needs nurses. However, it is still wise to fill out the FAFSA papers because each situation is different on receiving aid because it is based both on family income and resources. In regards to working in a nursing degree program, it is very intense and pretty impossible on working depending on the program. I have included some free membership scholarship search seach websites, and I recommend joining a couple of them. Also, I have included some information on financial aid. I also recommend searching Google.com and Yahoo.com for nursing scholarships and grants in the state. Good luck!

Apply for as many scholarships as you can. Try not to use student loans. That's the last thing you'll want to pay off once you finish school. Fastweb.com is a good source to find scholarships. Also, talk to your guidance counselor to apply for local scholarships. Also, the college you're attending might offer nursing scholarships as well.

Scholarship Search
http://www.discovernursing.com/nursing-scholarship-search
Scholarships and grants
http://www.nsna.org/foundation/
Nursing Student Loans
http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/DSA/nsl.htm
Remember don't apply for any of them if there is an application fee. Scholarship and grant applications should always be free.
Also don't forget to ask the Nursing school she has been accepted at if they offer any scholarships, grants or special loans for students studying healthcare.
Isn't her high school counselor helping her with this??
Anyway..
Congratulations to her! We love sharp nurses!
