Okay? So I really need to ask this. Has anyone heard of "Atlas." Someone once told me it's where someone puts the weight of the world on their shoulders. Well, I do that and they said that's what I have. I read things and watch things that has happened, and I get depressed.
When I was in grade 11 I learned all about the Holocaust. It was actually a factor for my depression. I know it sounds crazy, but I actually cried for hours and hours because I felt bad that I could not change what had happened and what was going on in the world. I know I can't change the world, but why do I feel so bad about it. I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I still feel depressed about it sometimes. And I don't feel this way just towards humans. But when I hear about an animal being beaten or killed, I feel very sad and I cry. Also, do you think it's bad to believe that even the worst person in the world deserves to be forgiven and loves. I feel this way. Do anyone think that Atlas is a sickness? Plz Hel

You are a very caring, loving person, and dont ever change...but try to find something that you can do to help others, that is rewarding..you must also realize that you can't change the world, but you can sure make it worth living for others...maybe do a clothing drive, and give to the homeless,..or do a toy drive for christmas this year, and start now, getting as many toys for little helpless children...you would have an amazing amount by the end of the year...you stay the same way you are, your job just hasn't been revealed by the good Lord yet God Bless

For one thing, it's "disease". Anyway, Atlas is not a sickness, in my opinion. Maybe it is, but I don't think so. It just means that you're a good person who wants the world peaceful, not with wars, killing and sin. You just see the world the way it was meant to be- you have an outlook that makes sin and killing intolerable for you. It's a good thing, I don't know about the depression part. At least you won't ever turn into a sinner, you'll always be a good, gentle person. If you can't stand the depression, maybe you can see a doctor to help deal with it. I wish I could change the Holocaust too, and everything else that went wrong, the 2 world wars, the war in Iraq, 9/11, and many other sinful/ bad things that occured in the world. It makes me cry too, knowing the world may end soon if sinning and global warming continues. But, we're all in this together, let's be the strongest we can be, and pray that one day all this madness in the world comes to a complete end! Right?

You feel bad because you have a conscious. This is good. I to have a bit of an Atlas complex. The best thing to do i to find the good in things. ALL things have some good in them. In 1985 I was a kid i Germany I saw the Berlin wall. I saw Auschwitz, Dachau and the ovens, the gas chambers and the medical testing areas that the Nazis used to kill the Jews. This at the age of 9 disturbed me and not until i was in High School did i find out that there is not all bad things that happened there.
At one of the camps they were doing testing of drugs and chemicals on humans. because of the sacrifice the Jews made we now have insulin and other (better) Medicine. Because of the sacrifice we have Nuclear Medicine. YES WHAT WAS DONE TO THE JEWS WAS HORRIBLE. But because of them we have millions of people who live a better life for them.
Because of them I have a Beautiful Daughter that is now 4 years old and living well because of a medicine that was directly developed in the camps. so Just because millions did die billions more have lived. I thank every one of the people that died there. just so that the medicine that could help my daughter breathe and live.
So you see find the happy and the good and don't fret life all works out. just learn that you are a empathic person and feel the life in all people.

I think you are an angel on earth. It is okay and normal to feel sad when a traumatic event happens. Please know that you can not fix what is not in your power. How can you make thing in the world better? just do your part. If you can save or help one person you have made a difference. You did not say how old you were. But maybe you can become a doctor or a public servant. you will do a world of good in public relations.

It sounds like you are a natural empath. In many ways this is a good thing....but it can be emotionally painful. You are hypesensitive to all the energy around you and you will have to work at protecting yourself. If you were to begin a meditation program that teaches you how to surround yourself with a protective light it could help you immensely.
You will not become cold or indifferent but quite the opposite. You will not only empathize with others but with the protection be able to work toward helping them. I do agree that donating some of your time to helping others would be a wonderful form of expression for you but be careful that it doesn't consume your entire life. As sensitive as you are if you don't set some boundaries you could totally lose yourself. Don't misunderstand my meaning here. Devotion to charity work IS a wonderful way to live, I'm just concerned about your emotional well-being if you dive in without some sort of structure for yourself.

You sound like a very nice very sensitive person...( I wish you were my friend) I would suggest you join a church, get in a group of nice people that are willing and able to give you support. There is nothing wrong with you. Try to stay away from as much of these depressing things as you can( you can't stay away from all ...it's out there) but you can make wise choices...like don't watch much news...be careful of the kind of movies and TV you watch..have positive friends...think positive ON PURPUS...stay away from the negative people........you'll be just fine...and remember God will make all things for the good in the end.....Do you know GOD? I'll pray for you ......and no it's not a mental disease

u are not alone. i watched the movie "the notebook" and i cant stop crying. i keep on thinking about the story for days and months... everytime i watch a movie, i cry. it's OK to feel so much of what is going on around us. God feels the same way. yes, everyone deserves to be forgiven and be given a second chance . just dont be depress too much coz you're hurting yourself. pray... it's the key. we can't shoulder all the "pain" this world can bring.

Atlas huh? Hmmm...It seems to me, that your a kind person at heart that overworks yourself. Don't try to put the world on your shoulders, just take it one step at a time. And its only natural that you feel sad about all the people and animals that were hurt or killed. Your only human. This just proves that you have deep feelings.

You are a very sensitive person to the pains of others. I do believe that everyone deserves a chance to show that they are a good person. Death does not solve anything. It just creates more sadness and more pain. Grieve for those who had to die senselessly. But don't let it weigh you down. It was just their time to go. Become proactive in a cause that would prevent random acts of cruelty and killing. The first act is become a person that does random acts of kindness and goodness.

It is called empathy and sensitivity. I feel like you most of the times. A bit earlier I was reading about the extinction of passenger pigeons and felt really awful. I guess you should try and not let things affect you so much. Here is something you could: Try saying a prayer about something that you saw or heard and made you feel bad. If you don't like saying prayers then say something positive and visualise that your being is protected from any kind of negative energies that sad incidents carry...
