I am not sure why you changed his food, but sometimes I sprinkle cheese into the food to get my dog started. Cottage cheese also works. My dog is the pickiest eater, but now that I have two dogs...the finicky eater now eats all her food.

Changes in food should be made gradually or a dog can end up with an upset stomach. That could explain why the dog is not eating. Or he may not like the food. Switch back to your old food and then make the transition to a new one very slowly.

He might not like the food you changed it to. Dogs rarely starve themselves; once he's hungry enough he will eat. It's best to make changes to a dog's diet slowly; mixing the new food in gradually over a period of a few weeks, gradually increasing the amount of the new food. That way his system can slowly get used to it, and he won't wind up with diarrhea (common when quickly switched to a new food). If I were you, I'd purchase a small bag of his old food. If he eats that with gusto, then you'd know it was just the new food that was causing him not to eat. If he still won't eat the old food, he may have a medical problem that 's causing him not to eat. Take him to the vet ASAP.
Hope this helps...

Was there a reason that you changed his food? If not, you may try going back to the old food...he may not be happy about the change.

If there was a reason that you changed the food, you may want to try something different. He may not like the taste or smell of new food. You may also just want to be patient. I know my pup quit eating when I changed her food bowl. She wanted the old one back...eventually she got hungry enough that she ate, but it wasn't happily. She still hides the new food dish when I'm not looking.

In most cases, changing a dogs food can lead to an upset stomach and diarrhea. You should always make the change gradually to reduce these irritations.

Did your dog eat on a regular basis with the other food? If so then you probally have a finicky dog. You can wait to see if he will finally eat it, but since it has been 2 days I would be concerned and change back to what he had before. Why did you change foods?

TRy to gradually change the food so he won't notice quite as much. If he still doesn't eat in two more days get the old kind of food again but you probably won't have to because he will get hungry enough and eat.

When he is hungry he'll eat. Try sprinkling parmesan cheese on the food and mixing it in. He might like it better that way, but only do it until he's eating the food, slowly reduce the cheese.
