How is that grammatically wrong? My English professor told me this and "Where's it at?" seems right to me.

It is not how it sounds - since we learn bad grammar at an early age and the bad grammar SOUNDS just fine. Many people say "When you was seven years old" instead of "When you WERE seven years old". If they thought that it was wrong and sounded weird, they would not say it.

Same with "Where is it at?" Sounds okay since you have said it all your life and so have the people around you - all excepting the super educated and pedantic ones (like ME!!)
and the English teachers.

So, change the way you say it. Just drop the AT part. Ask this same person to alert you to other things that you say incorrectly. You will be glad that you did.
