I moved my TV from my front room to my bedroom. It was fine before the move -nothing's changed but the location. Now it won't recognize my cable. I did auto channel search, but it doesn't seem to find anything. What am I doing wrong?

If your in an apartment you might need to connect it behind the plate in the front room. Take the wallplate off the wall and look in the wall, use a flashlight to be certain. You might find more than one wire not connected, some trial and error will sort out which one you need to connect. The cable company wants you to call them to send someone out to connect it for you and charge you. You will probably need to supply your own splitter. Its all already prewired you just need to connect it somewhere.

Let me just add that I worked for a big cable company. Not all cable technicians work for the actual cable company, some are sub-contractors. The big cable company makes the sub-contractors do their own tech calls when it was the sub-contractor that installed the cable in the beginning. Sub-contractors get paid by the job, and let me tell you $10 isnt going to go very far in their eyes. Do it yourself, save the hassle. They WILL charge you for every additional outlet that is hooked up in your home. Wether they hooked it up or you did. But the only way they will know is if you give them a call.

you should attempt going into the Menu settings on your television, and search for something touching on to AIR/CABLE. This placing will assist you to pick what channels your television receives, no matter if it is Cable (CATV), or Over the Air (AIR). you should make advantageous that that is chosen to CATV1. If this isn't effectual, then enable the television do an automatic channel search for to get the channels.

Just call your cable company. They don't charge for service calls, but do charge for installs and moves, etc...
However, do not mention that you moved your tv from one room to the other. Just let them know that it is not working. They will try to troubleshoot with you over the phone asking you to check the connections at the wall plate and behind the TV. Play along with them and finally they will "book" a service call. Once the technician comes out, show them the TV not working and he/she will help you out. If they tell you that you need an installer to perform this, explain to them that you can not take anymore time off from work and you even work on the weekends, (sob sob sob). Offer them $5 to $10 to just hook it up for you and explain that you are losing pay just to be home right now. Believe me, the 5 or 10 is worth having them do it quickly and correctly minimizing any chance of signal leakage should you try to do it. And they can go to McDonald's for lunch, your treat :) Be nice to them or they will simply head out to their truck and go to the next work order.
